Jacob Pearson - The Calling $10k Auckland (Jan 31, 2021)
The classic tale of "the apprentice" besting "the master". The duo of Jacob Pearson and Matt Rogers have dominated competitive play in New Zealand throughout 2020, and the first professional event of 2021 was no different. Matt topped the swiss standings with a perfect 11-0 record, but fate would have it that in the double elimination top 8, Jacob and Matt would find themselves facing off for survival in the losers bracket. Jacob bested the master, progressing to the final, where he had to pull off back-to-back wins in the Ira mirror to lift the trophy, which he surely did, becoming the first name to be etched into the Roll of Honor for 2021.
