Growing Your Community with Part the Mistveil

May 23, 2024 Organised Play Team

Part the Mistveil Pre-Release, set release, and Play Day events are sure to bring new and returning players into your store to crack open this latest Flesh and Blood set and get their hands on the new heroes and cards. This means it's also the perfect opportunity to introduce players into your in-store organised play and local community, so let's take a look at some ways you can make the most of Part the Mistveil.

Lay out the journey with your event schedule

Part the Mistveil Pre-Release is just the first step on the journey for your store's organised play program so be sure to have all your upcoming events planned and scheduled to keep the momentum going. That way you can share your schedule with your local player base across social media and in person during the event, and encourage them to come back for on release weekend for your Play Day events and onwards at your weekly Armory Events.

Play Day: May 31st to June 2nd

Play Day events are intended to be a fun, low stakes way for players to try Flesh and Blood for the first time. Active OP stores will receive an exclusive set of 6 promo cards within their June 2024 Armory Kit to support running one of these events in store.

Hosting a Play Day event is also the perfect way to get players in store on for the Part the Mistveil release weekend of May 31st - June 2nd, to play with the new set and to purchase products in store. You can use your Release Celebration Promos to provide an extra incentive to buy in store that weekend as well.

The suggested format for Play Day events is Blitz Preconstructed, using decks from the Part the Mistveil Blitz Deck Collection, with the first players to sign up for each of the three different heroes to receive the promo card which matches their selected hero as follows:

  • Enigma: Cosmo, Scroll of Ancestral Tapestry (Rainbow Foil)
  • Nuu: Beckoning Mistblade (Rainbow Foil)
  • Zen: Tiger Taming Khakkara (Rainbow Foil)

Limited Season: Crack packs and play in store

A great way to build upon your Pre-Release and Play Day events is to follow these up with an in-store season of Armory Events using Flesh and Blood's limited play formats Booster Draft and Sealed Deck.

One of the most exciting things about a new booster set is to try out the new heroes and start learning all of the new game mechanics and cards. Both limited play formats offer players the chance to do exactly that while also adding new cards to their collections. Our GEM organised play data tells us that Sealed Deck and Booster Draft event participation is always at it's highest in the weeks immediately following a new booster set release, so be sure to take advantage of this in-store.

Casual: Blitz and Sealed Deck Leagues

If you're looking for a great way to introduce new and casual players to Part the Mistveil, then you could run either a Blitz Deck or Sealed Deck League in-store across the month of June. We run both of these formats in the LSS office each release and they appeal to players with a wide range of experience and skill.

Simply decide whether you want to run a Blitz Deck or Sealed Deck League in your store and then start each player off with either a Part the Mistveil Blitz Deck or eight Part the Mistveil booster packs to constructed their Sealed Deck. If you're running a Blitz Deck League then simply by opening Part the Mistveil Blitz Deck Collections you immediately have prizing to hand out in the form of the extra booster packs, playmat, and storage box!

Leagues can be designed to offer participation rewards for players who attend each week and you can also drive repeat purchases with them by allowing players to buy a new booster pack to add to the Blitz Deck or Sealed Deck each week, or extra packs if they aren't having the best of luck.

Booster Draft: Train for National Championships and Premier Organised Play

Booster Drafts are another great way to offer players the chance to get new cards while playing in-store and are a favourite format for many players of all experience levels.

With the Part the Mistveil release in particular, more competitive players will be wanting to get plenty of practice drafts in before the upcoming National Championships and Pro Tour: Amsterdam. National Festival side events will also offer plenty of opportunities for all players to participate in Booster Drafts for exclusive prizes, so make sure you involve your newer players as well and encourage them to head along.

Blitz and Classic Constructed: A brand new metagame

Once players have had a few weeks of Booster Draft and Sealed Deck they'll likely want to begin turning their attention to trying out the new constructed formats and see what the new heroes can do at full power! Here stores have a choice between our two main constructed formats, Blitz and Classic Constructed.

Blitz is great if you are looking for a fast-paced format and offers a great way to run full sized events in a shorter period of time, perfect for those mid-week after work Armory Events. Blitz also offers new and casual players a quick way to get started using a Preconstructed Blitz Deck as a starting point, then building on that with cards they've collected during the Booster Draft and Sealed Deck events earlier in the season. You might even have some local players wanting to try out their Enigma, New Moon!

For stores and players with a little more time on their hands it's an opportunity to test the full metagame in Classic Constructed. This is Flesh and Blood's most popular and primary competitive play format and players will definitely be wanting to get plenty of practice in before National Championships and other upcoming Battle Hardened and Calling events leading up to Pro Tour: Amsterdam.
