Qualification
Across the 2024 season, there are a grand total of 45 National Championships, with events split between invitation-only events in larger countries, and open-entry events in smaller countries. Players can only participate in one National Championship per year, and only in the country registered on their player profile.
Philippines Player Cap
Given the growth of attendance over the past year in the Philippines, we have reviewed the event cap for the 2024 Philippines National Championship from 64 to 96. This means that the event is no longer open-entry, so you will need to qualify if you intend to participate.

Road to Nationals Qualification
National Championship Qualifications from 2024 Road to Nationals events are awarded to the Top 4 players. Invites do not pass down and can not be given to another player. If a player has already qualified, the invite ceases to exist. However, this will create an additional spot for ELO qualification.
ELO (Overall)
Moving forward, ELO (Overall) will replace the previous ELO leaderboards and ELO ratings in player profiles. ELO now becomes a single metric, that is a composite performance of every player, tracing back to their first rated match. ELO (Overall) is calculated by combining the match history of all limited and constructed rated matches, which will deliver greater depth of match history for all players.
We believe that this change will have a positive impact in competitive play, as the ELO (Overall) rating better reflects professional Multi-Format events.
ELO-based invitations will be issued based on standings as of April 2nd, 2024 (Pacific Daylight Time), following the end of the Road to Nationals season. Invites do not pass down and can not be given to another player.
There are two requirements in order to be eligible to qualify via ELO for the upcoming National Championship season. Players will be considered based on the following criteria:
- Have at least one ELO change recorded (anytime)
- Have generated at least 1XP over the past 90 days prior to ELO-based invitations being issued (April 2nd, 2024)
Player accounts with no record of ELO change will not be considered for ELO qualification. This will create an opportunity for players sitting below 1500 ELO to still qualify for their National Championship, when applicable.
Professional Tournament Invitation (PTI)
- Redeeming a PTI (Professional Tournament Invitation) obtained from a previous event, such as a National Championship or Calling.
- Redeeming a PTI - PTIs can be redeemed by emailing protour@fabtcg.com with your name and GEM player ID. The player redeeming their PTI must send this email from the same email address registered to their GEM player account. PTI redemptions can be submitted up until Tuesday May 14th, 2024 at 11:59 pm PDT. If the player does not attend the National Championship, their PTI will still be deemed to have been used.
- Gifting a PTI - A player may also gift a PTI to another player by emailing protour@fabtcg.com with your name and GEM player ID number, and the name and GEM ID number of the recipient. The player gifting the PTI must send this email from the same email address registered to their GEM player account. PTI gifting requests can be submitted up until Tuesday May 14th, 2024 at 11:59 pm PDT. Please note that a gifted PTI must be used by the recipient to play at the National Championship of the country they are registered in on their GEM player profile. If the player does not attend the National Championship, their PTI will still be deemed to have been used.
Open-entry (events capped at 24, 32, or 64 players)
Open-entry events will be open to all domestic players, up to the player cap. All players who have qualified through making the Top 4 of a Road to Nationals event or via ELO will automatically receive free entry to these events, while other players will have to purchase a ticket to the event.
2023 National Champions
2023 National Champions are invited to defend their title! They will be granted free entry to the main event. If a 2023 National Champion also qualifies through Road to Nationals, invites do not pass down and can not be given to another player. Instead, it will create an additional spot for ELO qualification.
World Championship Invitations and World Championship: Team Cup
The path to the 2024 World Championship kicks off this weekend with Road to Nationals, and this year there is even more on the line!
Building on the success of the individual competition of the Road to Nationals --> National Championship --> World Championship program, we are excited to introduce an extra component for this year's World Championship. The Flesh and Blood World Championship Team Cup! An extra $60,000 USD will be up for grabs, which will be shared across the top performing National teams. This means we will crown not only an individual World Champion, but also a Team Cup Champion.
Additional details about the Team Cup will be released alongside the main event announcement, but as the qualification pathway for the World Championship commences from Road to Nationals season, it is important that we share this information with you now.
Represent your country at the grand stage this November, and bring the Team Cup home!
World Championship Invitations can only be redeemed for the upcoming World Championship, do not pass down, and can not be given to another player.
Introducing Pro Quest+
Starting in April 2024, Professional Tournament Invitational events (commonly referred to as "PTI Events") will be rebranded to Pro Quest+.
But, what does it mean?
Currently, PTI Events offer prizes for 1st place only and tournament organizers can add more prizes at their discretion. Moving forward, all Pro Quest+ events will feature Top 8 prizes from Pro Quest events.
In order to further support the recent changes around the ELO qualification pathway, Pro Quest+ tournaments will now be ELO rated.
