This weekend will see the second ever Taiwan National Championship go down! The event, hosted by Fayble will see 96 of the fiercest Flesh and Blood fanatics fight for the trophy and right to be called National Champion 2021 in this two day Classic Constructed and Tales of Aria draft mixed format tournament.
Today we shine the spotlight a little brighter on Taiwan and throw a few quick questions at some top players and community superstars 77, Hsu Wei-Chung, Guāng Jū, Limbo, Dan Dan, NieBao and OTK_Blaze and hear their thoughts and perspectives on the Taiwan Nationals.

We chat with 77, the first in the world to win a Classic Constructed Road to Nationals with Kano, Dracai of Aether.
How long have you been playing Flesh and Blood and what initially drew you to the game?
I started playing late December 2020. At the time I was in a bit of a bad mood and was doing nothing but spending money. By chance one day, I checked out Local Game Store Cat Footprint Sanxia. I remember that day was a FAB learn to play. Although I missed the event, the staff were willing to teach me one on one with patience and passion and I’ve been a FAB player ever since!
Who is your favorite hero and why?
It’s Kano. A lot of people said that Kano isn’t too friendly for a newbie to learn, but that just gave me more of a desire to learn. I fell in love with him at once and saw that this character had unbound potential. Not to mention he could deal lots of damage to opponents! I always choose Wizard any time I play a video game for the first time, so I had no reason not to play Kano. Besides, the hero illustration is also a huge reason Kano appealed to me.
What is your favorite playstyle or deck archetype?
I prefer taking on flexible, challenging strategies. My favorite one is when my opponent can’t predict my steps and I take the victory.
Which deck will you play for the Taiwan National Championship?
Definitely Kano. Win or lose, I’ll play my favorite character. I’m glad to have the chance to celebrate and play in this event with a lot of elite players from all over the world.
What is your worst matchup as Kano? How would you deal with it?
I think...probably myself, I guess. I hope I’ll have a bit of luck during the event. Stay calm and find the chance for victory. Even though I’ll face off against a lot of strong opponents, I’ll enjoy Nationals and make some amazing memories. See you soon at Nats!

A:
2020/10/24-至今
當天心情不好非常想花錢，於是到貓腳印-三峽店晃晃，剛好當天是FAB教學日
，當時已接近休息時間，所以沒參與到教學，但店員非常有耐心的1:1個別指導
。於是乎就買了FAB並且入坑。
二、最喜歡的英雄套牌，為什麼？
A:
法師，一開始接觸FAB時最常聽到老玩家說：不建議新手玩「法師」
越聽就越想嘗試，卻一試成主顧。
也因為這職業有著無限的可能。能給予強大的傷害，任何遊戲都喜歡法師的我
，沒理由不玩Kano,本身的藝術設計也非常令我著迷。
三、你最喜歡的打牌風格？
A:
我喜歡變化多端，有挑戰性的策略
可以讓對手猜不透自己的每一步，
來完成遊戲的勝利。
四、這次你會想要拿什麼套牌參加國家冠軍賽？
A:
「法師」，不論成績如何，我始終會玩自己喜歡的職業，也很開心能與諸位高
手一起參與這一次的盛典。

A:
最難對付的..我想是我的牌庫吧？

We catch up with Hsu Wei-Chung, Taiwan’s top Guardian player who has five top 8s and two victories in premiere events so far this year.
How long have you been playing Flesh and Blood and what initially drew you to the game?
Since last Summer, almost a year and a half. I heard about Flesh and Blood through my friends.
Who is your favorite hero and why?
Bravo, the Guardian. He has some awesome on-hit debuffs depending on what the situation calls for. It gives him advantages in different situations. Easy to play and cheap for rookies.
What is your favorite playstyle or deck archetype?
Obviously, I like the heavy hitters. Kinda like a card game slugfest.
Which deck will you play for the Taiwan National Championship?
Guardian or Runeblade.
What is your worst matchup as Bravo? How would you deal with it?
That would be Prism. I’d put in tons of cards with go again and destroy their tokens or Spectras.

How long have you been playing Flesh and Blood and what initially drew you to the game?
I started playing when Monarch was released. Katsu, the Wanderer really appealed to me.
Who is your favorite hero and why?
Prism, Sculptor of Arc Light. Her art is beautiful and Light Illusionist was an exciting new class. The first format I played was Blitz. I lost to Ira and Kayo. I finally realised how good Prism is when I started playing Classic Constructed.
What is your favorite playstyle or deck archetype?
Taking all the damage then hitting the opponent back with even more.
Which deck will you play for the Taiwan National Championship?
Prism, Sculptor of Arc Light.
What is your worst matchup as Prism? How would you deal with it?
Rhinar the Brute is the hardest to beat as Prism the Light Illusionist. I’ll need to be pretty blessed to dodge the Rhinar matchup at Nationals.

We chat with Limbo, the first Flesh and Blood player in Taiwan.
How long have you been playing Flesh and Blood and what initially drew you to the game?
I started playing when LSS first started promoting Flesh and Blood. I like to try all TCGs. When I experienced Flesh and Blood, I decided to promote it here in Taiwan.
Who is your favorite hero and why?
At the beginning, my favorite hero was Katsu. He has a great Lord of Wind combo. When I get the combo off I yell “Hā sā qí tǒng liě gěi tòng!” like Yasuo from League of Legends. These days I like Prism because of the art and her unique Light Illusionist characteristics.
What is your favorite playstyle or deck archetype?
I like control decks, and to win with a special combo.
Which deck will you play for the Taiwan National Championship?
Guardian. (But I might change my mind)
What is your worst matchup? How would you deal with it?
Any deck that can pull off Command and Conquer with a Pummel. I pray and hope my opponent doesn’t draw Command and Conquer and Pummel together!

A:
1.未引進時就進行遊玩
2.我喜歡嘗試所有遊戲，一次因緣際會於國外體驗到這款特殊風格的卡片遊戲
就決定嘗試於台灣推廣。
二、最喜歡的英雄套牌，為什麼？
A:
1.一開始使用的是忍者，哈撒其統咧給痛，很快樂，打4GO AGAIN~
2.後來幻術師出了之後被可愛短髮吸引組了一副，就迷上了獨特的托台錢玩法
。多變化的策略讓我感受到遊戲的樂趣
三、你最喜歡的打牌風格？
A:
1.托台錢慢慢把人玩死，或者打一波華麗的爆發
總之不太喜歡那種一拳特別大的，多段連擊讓人感受到煩躁或者有命中效果讓
對手痛苦就是我的最愛

A:
1.守護者 (我前年也這樣說然後拿了忍者嘿嘿)

I’ve been playing for two months. My friend recommended Flesh and Blood to me.

Kano the Wizard. It’s hard to play perfectly with Kano but I feel great when I play well with him.

Aggressive decks.

I became interested in Flesh and Blood when I saw a competition going on in my Local Game Store, so I started playing Flesh and Blood with my friends.
Who is your favorite hero and why?
Prism, Sculptor of Arc Light. It feels good drawing lots of cards.
What is your favorite playstyle or deck archetype?
Aggro. I’d like to make aggro builds for Briar and Lexi.
Which deck will you play for the Taiwan National Championship?
Prism, Sculptor of Arc Light. I think there will be a lot of Guardians so Prism might be a good choice.
What is your worst matchup? How would you deal with it?
Briar, Warden of Thorns. I want to use Herald of Triumph to counter my opponent’s Command and Conquer on-hit effect.

We hear from experienced TCG player and variety content creator OTK_Blaze.
How long have you been playing Flesh and Blood and what initially drew you to the game?
I’ve been playing for almost a year now. Compared to other games, the core feature of role playing as a hero is quite distinctive whereas other games which generally summon monsters, minions or characters in combat. The way Flesh and Blood decks are composed of a hero’s actions gives players a feeling of being immersed in that hero. The excitement of the almost realistic combat and the high skill ceiling, which requires precise calculations, make me love the game.
Who is your favorite hero and why?
Lexi, Livewire (Ice). In the past I always chose marksmen roles when I played RPGs. I really like the idea of sniping opponents and dealing lethal damage from a distance. So when I started playing FAB, I picked Azalea. After the release of Tales of Aria, I built Lexi, the Elemental Ranger.
What is your favorite playstyle or deck archetype?
I prefer midrange decks and decks that can counterattack. I always observe the opponent’s playstyle and find the best response. I love suddenly dealing burst damage and surprising the opponent.
Which deck will you play for the Taiwan National Championship?
I might still choose Ice Lexi. A while back I played go again combo Lightning Ranger, but I feel the Ice element is more suitable to my playstyle.
What is your worst matchup? How would you deal with it?
The toughest matchup for me is Briar, the Elemental Runeblade. The pressure of two types of damage is huge. Elemental Runeblade is als the most played deck in this meta so I plan to use control attributes of Ice Elemental Ranger to disrupt the opponent’s pitch and maintain tempo by having them discard.

2.與其他TCG相比使用了角色職業扮演來做為遊戲主軸顯得非常有特色
有別於卡牌一般都是召喚手下、怪獸或角色的戰鬥方式
牌組是以職業招式構成，能讓人有種在玩該職業時有身歷其境的感覺
拳拳到肉的刺激感加上需要精密計算的高上限，讓人愛不釋手
二、最喜歡的英雄套牌，為什麼？
A:
1.Lexi, Livewire (冰屬性)
2.以往在玩其他職業RPG遊戲時最喜歡的就是射手很喜歡那種會心一擊放箭從
遠處狙擊對手的感覺所以入坑FAB後就以同樣是遊俠的Azalea為首選在第五彈

三、你最喜歡的打牌風格？
A:
比較擅長打中速節奏和反擊，先觀察對手的打牌風格之後找出最適合的對應模
式，偶爾也會突然主動打一波高爆發給對手來個出奇不意。
四、這次你會想要拿什麼套牌參加國家冠軍賽？
A:
應該還是冰屬性的Lexi, Livewire之前打過電屬性遊俠的Go Again連發流
但後來還是覺得冰屬性比較適合自己本身的打牌風格
五、目前哪個套牌最難應付、你打算如何解決他？
A:
目前賽場上自己覺得最難對付的應該是元素魔劍Briar，那個秘術傷害和一般傷
害的混傷壓力實在很大，同時也是賽場使用率最高的套牌，目前打算以純冰遊
俠的控制屬性，擾亂對手pitch以及掉手牌節奏來應對
