The path of Earth rewards the slow and steady, patiently planting seeds for a bountiful harvest.

The path of Lightning rewards the fast and fervent, burning bright like a shooting star.

Will you Outlast… or Outblast?

Rosetta is the latest thrilling way to play Flesh and Blood, returning players to the mythical sanctuary of Aria, through thorny thickets and volatile thunderstorms, deep into the dense undergrowth where the forces of Earth and Lightning converge! The first ever ALL-ARCANE booster set, Rosetta features four new Elemental heroes split across Wizard and Runeblade classes.

Rosetta Sealed Deck uses EIGHT booster packs, with a main deck size of EXACTLY 30 cards. No more, no less. Open your packs and remove the last two cards in each pack, which will be either tokens, cold foils, Legendary-rarity cards, and/or Expansion Slot cards. Set aside any non-token cards removed this way, as they cannot be used in your limited deck.

Next, choose a token hero and token weapon, and prepare for battle! Don’t forget that each hero in Rosetta gets to start the game with the ‘Sanctuary of Aria’ token in the arena.

Save the Thought

First things first, let’s go over some of the basics, starting with arcane damage. This is a special type of damage that can’t be defended by cards from your hand. The only way to avoid being killed by arcane damage is to use card effects that prevent it, such as Sanctuary of Aria, or cards that gain life. Note that Sanctuary of Aria can be used multiple times in a turn against any type of damage, but once that turn is over, you’re no longer protected!

Auras stay in the arena when played or created, until an effect makes them leave.

Instants can be played or activated at any time without needing an action point, even during the other player’s turn.

Split cards are special sideways cards with two halves. You can play either half, or if it has the keyword meld, you can play both halves. If you choose to play both, you need to pay the resource cost separately for each half.

What is Earth?

Earth cards can be identified by their green border pattern and Earth symbol in the card text. Earth heroes have special abilities that only become active once you have 4 or more Earth cards in your banished zone. Use cards with the keyword decompose to banish 2 Earth cards and 1 action card from your graveyard. Earth heroes like to defend heavily early on in the game until they can turn on their hero ability, then reap the rewards!

What is Lightning?

Lightning cards can be identified by their yellow border pattern and Lightning symbol in the card text. Lightning heroes have access to instant speed abilities which allow them to make quick decisions on the fly. Use instant cards to trigger the effects of your Lightning attacks to make it hard for the opponent to guess where you’ll strike next. Lightning heroes like to play fast, using go again to string together multiple attacks!

What are Runeblades?

Runeblades are hybrid fighters, using a combination of steel and sorcery to attack from all angles. Runeblade cards can be identified by their purple sword-like card border. Many Runeblade cards in Rosetta require you to play aura cards and/or create aura tokens in order to reach their full strength. Runechants are the main way that Runeblades in Rosetta deal arcane damage. They stick around until you attack, destroying themselves to deal 1 arcane damage!

What are Wizards?

Wizards rely on superior intellect to outplay their foes with absolute mastery of the arcane arts. Wizard cards can be identified by their blue wand-like card border. Many Wizard cards in Rosetta deal large amounts of arcane damage, commonly nicknamed ‘burn spells’. If your burn spell has the keyword surge, then it has a bonus effect if it deals more than the base amount of damage. Cards with the amp keyword can increase the amount of arcane damage dealt!

Aurora

Aurora is an Elemental Runeblade with Essence of Lightning. This means she can play Runeblade cards and Lightning cards.

Aurora likes to play a Lightning card, then use her ability to create an Embodiment of Lightning for the next turn. The extra go again lets her attack several times, using a sprinkle of arcane damage to finish off her opponents!

When building an Aurora deck, first look for lots of Lightning attacks, especially those with go again. Low cost Runeblade cards that can gain extra damage, go again, or have on-hit effects, such as Hit the High Notes, Runerager Swarm, or Meat and Greet are also excellent. Lastly, don’t forget to include a few blues and/or yellows in order to pay for her ability.

Florian

Florian is an Elemental Runeblade with Essence of Earth. This means he can play Runeblade cards and Earth cards.

Florian likes to defend early in order to fill his graveyard with Earth and action cards, then decompose them in order to turn on his hero ability. Once it’s live, he can create huge piles of Runechants to overwhelm his opponents!

When building a Florian deck, first look for lots of Earth cards, especially those with the keyword decompose. Then, you’ll want several easy ways to create Runechants once his hero ability is live, such as Malefic Incantation, Deadwood Dirge, or Arcane Cussing. Note that most of these are non-attack actions, which means they also pair well defensively with Embodiment of Earth.

Verdance

Verdance is an Elemental Wizard with Essence of Earth. This means she can play Wizard cards and Earth cards.

Verdance likes to defend early in order to fill her graveyard with Earth and action cards, then decompose them in order to turn on her hero ability. Once it’s live, she plays cards that gain life during her own turn while chipping away at her opponent’s life with arcane damage!

Then, you’ll want a combination of burn spells and cards that gain life in order to finish off the opponent. Verdance is also very comfortable just throwing big attacks like Fyendal’s Fighting Spirit, Autumn’s Touch, and Fruits of the Forest.

Oscilio

Oscilio is an Elemental Wizard with Essence of Lightning. This means he can play Wizard cards and Lightning cards.

Oscilio uses cards called ‘Sigils’ in many different ways, often trying to line up a big combo with several Lightning cards and his weapon Volzar, the Lightning Rod, ending on an amped up burn spell. His ability lets him dig through his deck for combo pieces or fix an awkward hand!

When building an Oscilio deck, first look for cards with ‘Sigil’ in the name, especially if they are also Lightning cards! Next you’ll want to include several cards such as Etchings of Arcana, Blast to Oblivion, or Glyph Overlay, that let you get multiple benefits from your Sigils. You’ll also want lots of burn spells to close out the game, the best one being Comet Storm // Shock, because the Shock half when combined with Volzar can kill the opponent on their own turn!
