Recap: Skirmish Season 7, Week 3

Aug 16, 2023 Kasharn Rao

With a transition smoother than the edge of a Kodachi, we wrap up Skirmish and dive into Nationals!

Chane took out some huge wins this week, not just in Skirmishes worldwide, but also at recent Battle Hardened events. The modified Blitz rules also were a huge success, with the ability to bring different cards into your main deck now a permanent pillar of Blitz.

At this point everyone seems to be swimming in confidence for the Monarch draft portion of Nationals, no doubt thanks to practice from local Skirmish events. Preconstructed has also been a blast, allowing new and old players to get together on the battlefield for a fair contest.

We're gathering the last bits of Living Legend data and will be able to share with you the final scores in the coming days, but for now let's check out highlights from the final week!

"Everyone was really satisfied to use this event as an extra testing opportunity before upcoming Nationals. In the Top 8 draft we had 3 Prism, 2 Boltyn, 2 Levia and a single Chane. The final match was played between established names in the Polish community - Grzegorz "Urlich" Kowalski on Prism, and Michał Krzyżyk on Levia. It was Michał's intense preparation with more than 20 drafts played that allowed him to be victorious this time!"

1st: Michał Krzyżyk - Levia

Runner Up: Grzegorz Kowalski - Prism

"This round of Skirmish was fantastic, with a turnout of 16 players and a fair spread of heroes, the games were on! It was amazing to see underrepresented heroes, including Genis Wotchuneed, Shiyana, the Emperor, and Benji. Final match of the day also ended with craziness - Fai presenting lethal when Chane played Art of War, draw into Art of War, draw into Invert Existence dealing enough arcane damage to close the game! Memories for sure were made today, it was a great time with everyone. Looking forward to the next big event!"

1st: William Lapp - Chane

Runner Up: Wyatt Leasure - Fai

"We had an amazing turnout with 11 enthusiastic players, and what's even more impressive is that some of them traveled a few hours just to be there and join in on the fun! The hero selection was pretty diverse, with only Kano being the popular choice among multiple players. But when it came down to the Top 4, we had a mix of Kano, Ira, Yoji, and another Kano. The first round pitted the two Kano players against each other, while Ira faced off against Yoji in another intense battle. After these challenging matches, our finalists emerged: Alex Sheedy playing as Kano and Aidan Ward playing as Ira. The final showdown was absolutely thrilling, with both players giving it their all. However, in the crucial final moments, Kano realized that he had to make a move or risk losing everything. He used his hero ability blindly, revealing a Blazing Aether that reduced poor Ira to a smoldering pile of ash and secured Kano's victory! It was an incredible display of skill and strategy, and we were all on the edge of our seats throughout the whole thing. Congratulations to Alex Sheedy for his well-deserved win, and a big shoutout to all the participants who made this event so memorable. Can't wait to see what the next one brings!"

1st: Alex Sheedy - Kano

"Skirmish was a wild one for us at Invasion. The community turned out in full force. After six incredibly close rounds the Top 8 was set. We had a diverse playoff with Kassai, Rhinar, Prism, Bravo, Levia, Dorinthea, and Ira all represented. Noah Clark as Prism would face off against Sunny Yang and his fatigue Ira. The two battled back and forth trading blow for blow but in the end the Light shined through and Prism was victorious! We can't thank everyone enough for coming out and making this event the best it could possibly be, and a big CONGRATULATIONS to our Season 7 Champion Noah Clark!"

1st: Noah Clark - Prism

Runner Up: Sunny Yang - Ira, Crimson Haze

"Well it was a great day! We sold out in advance and even had a back-up list to cover late cancellations. The atmosphere was great. Prize support included 2 alters of Ironrot Gauntlet, painted by our community member Arian Reymen, and all players received a custom made FAB Utrecht Resource Token. Top 8 saw a diverse pallet of heroes, with only Ira coming in twice. The final match was between fairly new player David Wongso on Kassai, and the golden voice from Eindhoven: Daan Barten on Rhinar, who took home the win. Looking forward to host a Bright Lights Pre-Release!"

1st: Daan Barten - Rhinar

Runner Up: David Wongso - Kassai, Cintari Sellsword
