Recap: Skirmish Season 7, Week 2

Aug 09, 2023 Kasharn Rao

Explosive stuff this week from the latest round of Skirmish! From Preconstructed battles, to Blitz beatdowns, to Monarch draft - the best part of Skirmish is seeing how much fun everyone is having!

No doubt all of this drafting will prove to be beyond valuable with Nationals fast approaching. If you're looking to get those Classic Constructed reps in, make sure to check out the testing tips from Pro Tour champ Pablo Pintor here.

We have more spicy meta analysis on the way, including some notes from Battle Hardened: Salt Lake City, but for now let's check out some fun stuff from last weekend!

"First place was won by Bun. The game was down to the last 2 life on both sides. Bun has an amazing Pulsewave Harpoon, taking away the only 6 power attack from PH's Bloodrush Bellow hand, sealing the win. Tight skill exchange from both players. Lucky draw winner for the Cold Foil Genesis was Cliff Wong."

Runner Up: PH Chung - Levia

"19 combatants braved the new Skirmish hosted by Daimonji Collectibles, and a Brute of the Savage Lands emerged victorious. Through careful calculations and overwhelming intimidation, Reeve Chia emerged as champion with Rhinar. Utilising huge turns with Bloodrush Bellow and Cash In, Reeves went flawless in sweeping through the competition. We had a healthy meta of 10 classes and 13 unique young heroes. Daimonji Collectibles would like to thank all participants who came down on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to celebrate the love of Flesh and Blood together through the updated Blitz format. A shoutout to TO Mark Tay for promoting and facilitating an exciting Skirmish event for our local community."

1st: Reeve Chia - Rhinar

Runner Up: Theodore Tan - Dash

"This was our first large Flesh and Blood event after having our community pick up the game in earnest less than two months ago. While we had a small turnout the camaraderie and love for the game was palpable. We had a wide variety of heroes even including the very interesting and lovable Data Doll Mk II (hopefully we will see more of her in Bright Lights). The hero of the day however was a newly elevated Boltyn utilizing the new Saber/Shield build which was able to weather the tide of aggro decks and come out on top. We are a new community, but the love and passion for the game is tremendous and we look forward to the future of the game!"

1st: Talon Bradshaw - Boltyn

Runner Up: Nicholas Wolverton - Fai

"Versus Lane Thomason in the final I felt like the main character rising up to fight the big boss. I raced Kassai, even pitching Energy Potion away to push more damage. But history has the habit of repeating itself, Lane has the Oasis Respite in my combo turn to block my Lesson in Lava. But I kept fighting. On Kassai's turn at 5 life he plays a blue Hit and Run and cracks his Courage of Bladehold to attack with two cards left in hand. My brain starts cooking, he wouldn't crack the chest if he has two blues in hand, I start to see the signs, I think it's pretty safe to just Kano one time and I found the RED HOT Emeritus Scolding on top and blast him for 7 lethal arcane (he only has two reds)." - Minh Hoàng Nguyễn

1st: Minh Hoàng Nguyễn - Kano

Runner Up: Lane Thomason - Kassai, Cintari Sellsword

"This was the first Skirmish event held in Szeged, Hungary. Therefore the expectations and excitement were high. We've had record attendance of 19 which would probably be even higher if it wasn't holiday season in our region. This has been a great success for our community, especially for the players who started local play in our store. We have gone from 3 to about 25 regular players within a year. We have run History Pack 1 Preconstructed tournaments before, therefore players had been practicing for a while and knew what to do. We had some really exciting games even in the first 5 rounds. Then in the Top 8 we cheered for the locals against the guys visiting from Budapest. In the end, the winner was István Balogh. It was well deserved by the game he played and also for what he is doing for the community. He is one of the first members of our local Flesh and Blood community and he helped a lot of players with their first steps. So our first trophy went to a really good place. We would like to thank LSS for the opportunity to hold such an event, we are looking forward to seeing high-level tournaments around our area. Who knows, maybe next year we could be having tournaments with 2 or 3 times this many people if this positivity continues."

1st: István Balogh - Dash (HP1)

Runner Up: Balint Herendi - Dash (HP1)
