Judge conferences are a powerful way to educate and connect judges around the world and we are working towards making them a centerpiece of the Flesh and Blood Judge Program. Conferences are a building block for sharing the knowledge and skills needed to enable great events by bringing an amazing community together. No matter if you are a seasoned expert, an aspiring judge, or an interested tournament organizer, these conferences have something for everyone!
How to Find a Conference
The central page for finding future conferences and events in general for judges is Judge Hub, our primary judge platform. The JudgeHub platform offers ways of promoting events for judges and tournament organizers around the world, allowing users to create events, sign up to and apply to staff events, get certified as a judge, and much more.

Conferences can be packed in many ways to provide learning and socializing opportunities. Seminars and classic lessons are the typical way of providing education, but methods like workshops and mock tournaments can also provide judges with essential knowledge and social skills.
In general, topics can span a variety of different fields, from rules to logistics. Some examples of conference topics include:
- Introduction to Judging Competitive Events Seminar
- Judge Calls and Customer Service Workshop
- Logistics of Running a Proquest Seminar
- How to Run Deckchecks Workshop
- Investigations Seminar
- and much more!
Conference Types and Support
Conferences come in all shapes and sizes. In some cases it may be appropriate to host small online conferences that target a specific community or aspect of the rules, and in other cases the aim may be to bring many people together in the flesh and blood. These different types of conferences roughly fall into the following categories:
Tier 1 - Digital Online Conferences
Example: A regional, or language-specific conference hosted on a Discord server or with Zoom.
Tier 2 - Adjacent to an Event Conference
Example: A conference hosted the day-of or the day before a Battle Hardened or Calling
Tier 3 - Independent Conference
Example: A one or two day event hosted for a bigger region with several seminar tracks.
LSS recognizes that a lot of work goes into organizing and preparing for conferences and we want to offer judges a thank-you for all their work they put into the community. Certified judges may already organize conferences if they wish to do so (sharing knowledge is always great), but in November, applications for official conference support will open. Have a neat idea for a conference? You’ll be able to apply with any idea or concept you have and we will evaluate it to see if we can support you. We hope that judges will take this opportunity to start connecting with other judges and tournament organizers in their area, to help each other improve and to give the players of flesh and blood the best experience possible.
We hope that made you even more curious about conferences! We are looking forward to seeing your ideas and plans. Or maybe we see you at the conference in San Jose?
