European History Pack 1

This week marks a key milestone for Flesh and Blood with the release of our first localized product. History Pack 1 - Black Label will release in French, German, Italian, and Spanish in stores across Europe this Friday.

The European community has been incredibly supportive since bringing English language Flesh and Blood to Europe in 2020. Over 600 local game stores have chosen to support Flesh and Blood, and thousands of players have taken part in organised play across the continent.

One of our aspirations as a studio has been to support European fans with localized products, so they can play the game in their mother tongue, and to welcome more European stores and players into the Flesh and Blood community. Alongside other key initiatives such as bringing the Pro Tour to Europe, the launch of our first localized product is a major step towards our commitment to make Flesh and Blood a truly global game that stands the test of time.

A core value at Legend Story Studios is continuous improvement. We are constantly striving to improve our products, fan experiences, and the way we service and support local game stores. We place high expectations on ourselves because we are driven to create products and experiences that fans cherish and are proud to be associated with.

This past week, we sent preview products to some European fans. The feedback has been critical of the way some card names, card types, and keywords have been translated, particularly in the French language product. We are grateful to have received this honest feedback from these members of the community, who have done so with a genuine desire to see Flesh and Blood be the best it can be.

We have since had conversations with members of the community across Europe to gauge how fans will feel towards the translations. The community members we have spoken with have unanimously told us that the standard of the translation is not where it needs to be, but also that they believe the right thing to do is to move ahead and release the product as a sign of good faith and our commitment to support the European community.

It upsets us to know that a product we put a lot of work and resources into is below the standard of excellence we strive for and fans have come to expect from Legend Story Studios. We have learned a lot from this experience and are pleased to have recently begun working with several highly experienced TCG localization experts, as we strive to continuously improve our products across all languages.

Although some cards in History Pack 1 - Black Label may not read as well as they should, we believe the playing of great games will most certainly be seen. Also to be seen is a special cold foil surprise we included in our first localized product as a thank you to the European fans, which will never be printed again this way in any language.
