With Pro Tour: Los Angeles only days away, we caught up with the previous Pro Tour Champion to hear his thoughts about the upcoming tournament. Michael Feng won Pro Tour: Baltimore in 2023 with Oldhim, Grandfather of Eternity, taking down Mara Faris on Dromai, Ash Artist in the finals. Michael has an exceptional Pro Play record, consistently seen in the top brackets of major Flesh and Blood events. He enjoys travelling the world, playing the game, and making new friends - whether that's at the highest tier of competitive play, or just a casual Armory Event.
What are you most looking forward to at Pro Tour: Los Angeles?
Great games of Flesh and Blood being played!
Which hero do you think will win Pro Tour: Los Angeles?
Kano, Dracai of Aether
What do you think of Heavy Hitters Draft?
I enjoy that it has been well received by many players around me locally and also from social media posts!
As a Pro Tour Champion, what’s your advice to new players?
The last Pro Tour was a tournament I felt incredibly under-prepared for, and I brought a deck with multiple lopsided matchups and weaknesses. Play what you are absolutely the most comfortable with. Never underestimate how much experience can help in a bad matchup, and how far you can go if you do receive lucky pairings. Try your best to prepare, but at the end of the day, make sure to show up, and be actually present and aware in each game. Play great games, conduct yourself in a way in which your future self would be proud, and enjoy the spirit of the competition!
Shout out your local game store!
I am blessed to have multiple awesome local game stores I attend. Shoutout in no particular order to: Action City Comics, Silk Road Gaming, the Uncommons, The Bearded Dragon Games, and the "FAB mecca" of New Jersey, Gilded Raven Games!
