Skirmish Recap - Season Two, Week Five

Last week saw over 60 Skirmish events take place across the United States, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Belgium, Australia, France, Bulgaria, Denmark, New Zealand, Singapore, Canada, the Czech Republic, Poland, the United Kingdom, Spain, Hong Kong, and Germany.

We had so many great stores hosting events over the weekend, whether online or in-person, blitz or sealed, and plenty of prizes up for grabs. This article is a long one, so make yourself a Crazy Brew before you read on!


Fable Hobby

Fable Hobby - United States

American local game store Fable Hobby took the spot of largest Skirmish event of the week, amassing 107 players to compete in their online Blitz tournament.

Regular streamer and content creator Davis Kingsley faced off against Runeblade heavyweight James Lim in a Chane mirror match finale, having eliminated regular Top 8 players such as Dante Delfico and Kelvin Law. Ultimately, it was Davis 'TowerNumberNine' who dealt the final blow, and secured his win for the day. You can read his own tournament report here.

Flagship Games

Flagship Games - Singapore

The second largest Skirmish event of the week came courtesy of Flagship Games, with 101 players participating in their online Blitz tournament, co-hosted with Bloodletter Media.

Newcomer Abbey Fong, who played their first Flesh and Blood tournament earlier this month, beat back experienced players such as Chu Heng Eng, James Lim, and Jamin Choe in their rise to the top, soaring to take the win for this Skirmish event.

Mox Saga - Hong Kong

Mox Saga hosted their Skirmish event as part of a interstore championship in Hong Kong. 34 players duked it out to ensure their place in the final match, but ultimately it came down to Wilson To's Chane vs. Kaiser Wong's Kano. In the end, it was the Runeblade who came out on top, securing their win for the Skirmish event.

Dice Jar Games - New Zealand

Dice Jar Games from the land of the long white cloud streamed their 19-player event, held in tandem with their neighbor, The Game Store at Megazone, as part of a Dunedin Skirmish weekend. One lucky player, Rowan Simmons, opened a box of first edition Monarch before the event began and pulled the fabled Great Library of Solana, a lucky omen for her place in the Top 8.

Ultimately, however, the final match took place between wizard Liam Spronken, and ninja Daniel Real. Kano won the final bout of the day, beating back the infamous rebel Ira to take his place at the top.

The Collective

The Collective - United States

Twenty-one players duked it out at The Collective's Skirmish event, including one player, Sam Yuen, who flew from New Jersey to Orlando to attend the event. The Top 8 for this event was studded with players from the top 10 US players on our XP leaderboard, including Rob Cygul, who is quickly nearing the 2000XP mark, and Sam Yuen and Alex Laplume, who are both close to hitting 1000XP.

However, it was Dorinthea player Jimmy Le and Chane player Chris Ray who duked it out in the final battle. Jimmy Le dealt the final blow, claiming his first win at a Skirmish event!

Azkaban Juegos

Azkaban Juegos - Spain

Azkaban Juegos kicked off their sealed deck event with 27 players from across Spain, with one lonely Levia facing the rest of the pack in her fight to the top.

Leading the charge in the Top 8 draft was Guillermo Pedernal, who first introduced Flesh and Blood to the Azkaban team, even before its arrival in Europe was announced. He and fellow player Jorge Valiente both drafted Boltyn while sitting next to one another, constantly trying to block the other's picks; as a result, Jorge's Boltyn entered the fight with only Stubby Hammerers to protect himself. The two duked it out in the final battle, and Guillermo took the win for the day.

IanTCG welcomed 17 players for their first Skirmish event, with a variety of different heroes entering the Blitz battle to the top.

The final battle was between Donovan van Beek's Ira, and Erik Baalhuis' Rhinar. The duel between ninja and brute ended with the rebel leader emerging victorious, as Donovan claimed the win of the day.

In their blitz-style Skirmish, Edmond Unplugged welcomed 17 players, seeing a range of experienced players and newcomers, and a wide array of heroes to boot. Drayton Ganz' Ira took down Paul Gerow's Prism to secure the win of the day.

Drugiyat Zamak (Other Castle)

Drugiyat Zamak (Other Castle) - Bulgaria

The players at Drugiyat Zamak's sealed event experienced some lucky draws, with some walking with cold foils such as Dread Scythe, Valiant Dynamo, and even the fabled Great Library of Solana. Another player got four majestics in his sealed pool alone! This may be down to the store's temporary mascot for the day, a spaniel who enjoyed attention from the other players between rounds.

The final match of the day was played between Viktor Stoyanov and Nikolai Galabov. Viktor Stoyanov played Chane in the sealed swiss rounds, but it was his drafted Prism deck which secured him his ultimate victory for the day.

With 15 players opening 45 boosters and pulling 2 legendaries, CUBE's Skirmish event got off to a roaring start, with nine out of the twelve classes represented at the event.

The final was a repeat from the last week's Skirmish in Bydgoszcz, with a match between Tomasz Żelazko (Ira) and Jakub Siedlecki (Dorinthea). Despite the change in format, Tomasz Żelazko won the final once again, securing first place in the Skirmish event for the second week in a row.

Back in the land of the long white cloud, players from across Auckland rallied at Card Merchant Takapuna's Skirmish event. The Calling Auckland 2021 finalist Calum Gittins beat Edward Kim in the final round, securing first place in the event.

Prism dominated the sealed portion of Goin' Gaming and FAB Foundry's joint Skirmish event, but the balance between Light and Shadow was swiftly balanced in the Top 8 draft. Elizabeth Durso cruised through the Top 8 eliminations, as they drafted a Cold Foil Luminaris.

"There were many close matches in our Top 8 but Luminaris absolutely shined in our Limited format.  All praises to Sol and the power weapons of our Light heroes.... beating back the Shadows looking to eclipse Solana!"

Fourteen players brought the heat at the Sapphire City Board Game Parlor, and the TO made mention of how wonderful the local community is, quoting a "collection of players that know how to be competitive, warm, and welcoming all at once."

't Spelgeweld - Belgium

The 't Spelgeweld team welcomed Prism, Azalea, Chane, Ira, Levia, two Kano's and two Chane's in their Blitz tournament. Thibaut De Meyer's Ira won the final match in a very close fight against Brecht D'hondt's Chane, claiming his second Skirmish win in a row!

Eastridge Sports Cards & Games - Canada

Canada's Eastridge Games hosted 21 local players for their Blitz event, with eleven different heroes represented across the field. However, Ira players dominated the final matches, with three entering the Top 4 alongside one Chane player, who ultimately reigned supreme.

In Wyoming, Games Gauntlet held their 10-player blitz event, welcoming Prism, Ira, Boltyn, Viserai, Bravo, Benji, two Chane's and two Dorinthea's to try their skill in the Skirmish. Thomas Dugan's Dorinthea beat William Plumb's Ira to secure his ultimate victory for the day's event.

Eleven players gathered for Black Lotus' blitz event, filling out the field with a Boltyn, Levia, Dash, Dorinthea, Chane, Ira, Prism, and not one, but three Bravo's! It was guardian player Viliam Kubik who beat Matúš Martinko's Ira in the final round, crushing the ninja in his rise to the top.

The Armory

The Armory - New Zealand

In the South Island, the Armory's Skirmish event got underway with 22 players in a Blitz tournament. The three Levia players at the event were shut out of the top 8, with only one of three Dorinthea players making it past the cut. Meanwhile, the sole Dash, Rhinar and Prism players secured their places in the top 8. Ultimately, the final battle was between Gene Brumby's Rhinar and Daniel McKay's Chane, with the Runeblade securing the win of the day.\

Toys'n'Loot - Denmark

Toys'n'Loot's event had eight players from six different cities coming to participate in the event, with many driving for over an hour to reach the store. With three Dorinthea's, two Ira's, two Levia's and a Dash fighting in the Skirmish, this small event wasn't just a chance for players to test their skills, but enjoy one of the key values of Flesh and Blood - local community.
