Over the weekend, some members of the community shared video content of them opening displays of Outsiders containing large numbers of rainbow foil Legendary and Fabled cards. We recognise that these cards are very important for fans, both for their play value and their collectability, and so we immediately contacted the manufacturer and launched an investigation.
This morning we received the preliminary findings from the manufacturer and we wanted to share the details with you immediately. Sample product is taken from the line periodically at this factory, and reviewed at the time for quality control purposes, but also stored in the event that we need to conduct an investigation after the fact, such as now.
The factory's assessment is that for a very short period of time, rainbow foil Fabled and Legendary cards were placed on the rainbow foil Common feeder. Based on their initial root cause assessment, this incident occurred for a period of less than 30 minutes across a manufacturing campaign that lasted several weeks. This is consistent with the batch code time stamps of affected product we have obtained.
From their analysis, the maximum impact of this error, if it were to have occurred across all product for the entire 30 minute period, would have resulted in 1.6% additional rainbow foil Legendary and Fabled cards being released above what was intended for the global print run size. However, it is unlikely this error lasted for the entire 30 minute window, and based on this and other supporting data, it appears most likely that the impact has resulted in between 0.4% and 0.8% additional rainbow foil Legendary and Fabled cards being released.
For clarity, we want to note that this problem did not affect the drop rates of any cold foil cards, and is limited to rainbow foil Legendary and Fabled cards only. In addition, we do not believe that this problem will have resulted in drop rates for rainbow foil Legendary and Fabled cards being any lower than normal for product manufactured outside the impacted window.
We are disappointed that this has occurred. We partner with world leading manufacturers to print Flesh and Blood, and we expect high standards of them. As such we will be working very closely with them in the coming days to understand what changes they will be making to their quality control systems to avoid a recurrence of this problem.
At the same time, we are relieved to have found that the problem appears to be quite limited in scope.
We would like to thank the community members who sent us in videos and photos of them opening the affected product. This, along with the case codes that we were supplied enabled us to significantly accelerate what has been a complex investigation, and we appreciate the assistance that you provided.
We hope that you continue to enjoy Outsiders, and look forward to seeing you out there at Skirmish Season!
