Flesh and Blood Ratings Update 2021

28th Sep 2021

"The process of rating players can be compared to the measurement of the position of a cork bobbing up and down on the surface of agitated water with a yard stick tied to a rope and which is swaying in the wind"

Close to a thousand avid Flesh and Blood players recently attended the Calling weekend in Las Vegas, with a vast majority of them taking their first steps into the scene of professional-level events with the $10,000 USD prize pool main event. Along with the thrill of competing for big cash prizes, earning coveted Golden Cold Foil Legendary prize cards, and being invited to future exclusive events, there is another avenue of achievement for budding heroes; rating highly on the global and country leaderboards.

Before today, the ratings for Flesh and Blood players that have competed at professional level events have been calculated as a singular value with the tried-and-true Elo rating system regardless of the gameplay format of those tournaments. As we ramp up into the National Champs season, we have decided to clearly make the distinction between players that are excelling in one format compared to another. We want our booster draft masters and constructed heavyweights to stand at the top of their own podiums in their own sections within the Leaderboards.

With this change, competitive players can expect to be able to master their craft of choice, be it Constructed formats such as Classic Constructed and Blitz, or Limited formats like Booster Draft and Sealed Deck, and have the opportunity to qualify for future events based on that mastery. This will apply both on a Global and Country level where applicable.

If you’ve played in a professional-level event and have been rated, or are curious at what the competition looks like in your part of the world, check out the links directly to the Rating Leaderboards below!
