Recap: Pro Quest: Amsterdam, Week 4

May 07, 2024 Parker Brown

Pro Quest: Amsterdam is a wrap and boy, oh boy...it was a Wild Ride! We witnessed the ascension of the Dragon Queen, Teklovossen and Riptide graduate to the big leagues, and Kayo proves that you only need one arm to carry the weight of the world. This season was full of heavy hits, hacking hatchets, and everything in between. All of this is further evidence that we're heading into a metagame full of surprises and that it's anyone's game.

Congratulations to every competitor that secured their PTI and a massive shoutout to everyone who supported their local game stores this season! With Pro Tour: Amsterdam on the horizon and up to $200,000 USD up for grabs, do you have what it takes to claim the throne?

"There were some Kayos with the new cards from the armory deck, but the finalists were Viserai (OTK) vs Boltyn (mid range). It was close, but Viserai took the gold foil Crucible of Aetherweave. The funny thing is the same player has also won a gold foil Metacarpus Node in the past. He's slowly building his bling Kano deck..."

1st: Maximilian Schmidt - Viserai, Runeblood
2nd:
Timo Cullmann - Ser Boltyn, Breaker of Dawn

"Games Gauntlet held a 22 person PQ with players from all over the Rocky Mountain region. Great games were had by all with laughter and friendly competition filling the day. The highlight match of the day was in the Quarterfinals between Viserai and Kayo. Both combatants slogged it out in a grueling hour long match culminating in a top deck war with Kayo at 1 and Viserai at 2."

1st: Chris Brummet - Victor Goldmane, High and Mighty
2nd:
Evan Roberson - Kayo, Armed and Dangerous

1st: Thanthawat "Vespa" Chujitngamsuwong - Prism, Advent of Thrones
2nd:

"The final match was a showdown between Dash & Kassai. Jie Rui, our Dash player chose to take an aggressive approach for the game, setting up Maximum Velocity turns twice. Benjamin played well but the life point gap was too huge. Jie Rui closed the game after playing his 2nd high Octane & shot down Kassai."

1st: Jie Rui - Dash, Inventor Extraordinaire
2nd:
Benjamin Prisse - Kassai of the Golden Sand

"A really diverse hero spread and a bunch of excited players made this event a real blast. With only Boltyn as a repeating hero in top 8 and the two of them facing off immediately, it was a diverse spread that made for interesting games at every table! In the end, Gui (who has taken home the gold in almost all of our major events!) reigned supreme with Uzuri."

1st: Gui Cohen - Uzuri, Switchblade
2nd:
Nick del Sol - Ser Boltyn, Breaker of Dawn
