With Pro Tour: London only weeks away, we caught up with the previous Pro Tour Champion to hear his thoughts about the upcoming tournament. Shoma Yamamura won Pro Tour: Amsterdam in 2024 with Uzuri, Switchblade against veteran player Bartosz Ziemba on Zen, Tamer of Purpose. Shoma brought a rogue hero to a metagame where nobody expected it, which made him far deadlier than the competition, cementing Japan's first big win on the world stage on his very first trip overseas.
How has life changed for you since Pro Tour: Amsterdam?
会場で声を掛けてもらう機会が増えました。
一番うれしかったのは、わたしの優勝を見てFlesh and Bloodを始めたという人が居たことですね。
これより嬉しいことはありません。
I've had more opportunities to talk to people. The happiest thing for me was that more people started playing Flesh and Blood after seeing me win. I couldn't be happier.
What did you spend your prize money on?
Flesh and Bloodの国内供給を増やすため、大半はわたしが運営しているお店に投資しました。
それとお店のトイレを改修しました。
あとは妻の為に電子レンジを新しく買ったくらいですね笑
I invested most of it in the local game store I run to increase the domestic supply of Flesh and Blood. I also renovated the store's toilets. I also just bought a new microwave for my wife, lol.
What are you most looking forward to at Pro Tour: London?
トッププレイヤーたちとまた最高の舞台で戦えることです！
今回は 2 連覇がかかっています。前回の自分に対するチャレンジが成功するかどうかも楽しみですね。
ロンドンを観光できるのもとても楽しみです。わたしが読んだ小説やみた映画で何回も舞台になっているので憧れがあります。
To be able to compete against top players on the biggest stage again! This time, I'm aiming for my second consecutive victory. I'm looking forward to seeing whether my challenge to myself from last time will be successful. I'm also looking forward to seeing London. I've always admired London because it's the setting for so many novels I've read and movies I've seen.
Which hero do you think will win Pro Tour: London?
The Hunted 環境はいろいろなヒーローが各地で活躍しているので予想するのは難しいですね。
あえて言うなら、結果を出している《シンドラ》が最有力候補でしょう。
ただし本命はわたしが 2 連覇するのでわたしが使用するヒーローです！！
It's difficult to predict The Hunted environment because so many different heroes are powerful and performing well. If I had to say, Cindra, who has produced good results, would be the most likely candidate. However, since I'm going to win for the second time in a row, it'll be the hero I'm using!!
What are your thoughts on The Hunted Booster Draft?
今回のドラフトもとても楽しいです！！
個人的には霧隠の秘境と同じ感覚でプレイできています。
わたしにとって、アサシンクラスのヒーローがセット内に存在することはとても重要です笑
This Booster Draft set is very fun!! Personally, I can play it with the same feeling as Part the Mistveil. For me, it is very important that an Assassin hero is in the set, lol.
As a Pro Tour Champion, what’s your advice to new players?
プロツアーチャンピオンになったのは、わたしが初めて競技的なイベントに参加してからわずか半年間後のことでした。

I became a Pro Tour Champion just six months after participating in my first competitive event. Every player has a chance to win. Please try participating in these competitive events. Due to the nature of this game, I think that your unique strategies and card choices are likely to be reflected in your results. When I won, I was using a unique playstyle that I had personally decided on and believed in. Create your own strategy and challenge the players waiting for you in the Flesh and Blood. Your challenge will take Flesh and Blood to a new level, like it did for me.
