Covid-19 and Road to Nationals - Update 1

17th Mar 2020 Legend Story Studios

Covid-19 is posing a serious threat to the health and wellbeing of people. Some countries are affected more than others, with differing responses from governments around the world to best meet the needs of their people.

Some territories that have Road to Nationals tournaments scheduled are highly affected by covid-19 and the corresponding action their governments are taking to contain the spread of the virus. Many local game stores have been required by local authorities, or are choosing to, close their businesses or gaming areas at this time, in particular in the United States of America and Malaysia.

Legend Story Studios has been working closely with all local game store owners who have Road to Nationals events planned, to understand and support their response to covid-19. Based on this feedback, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the start date of the Road to Nationals season in the United States of America and Malaysia. We hope that both of these territories can run the full number of Road to Nationals events originally planned, in a condensed season starting later in the year.

Australia, Taiwan, and New Zealand stores are still able to host Road to Nationals tournaments as planned, subject to store owners confirming that their event will comply with all guidelines and regulations of government and local authorities in their territory.

At this time, our intention remains unchanged for National Championship tournaments to run between August 28 - September 27 in all territories across the world, subject to these events meeting all government level health and safety guidelines at that time.

We are monitoring the covid-19 situation daily and communicating with our local game store partners, and there will be a weekly update bulletin posted on fabtcg.com advising of any changes to Road to Nationals and National Championship events.
